485 Visa News – Online Study!

As per the latest 485 Visa news, studying online outside Australia will count for the Australian Study Requirement (ASR). Your online study from offshore will count for ASR if:

You held a Student Visa 500 while studying online from outside Australia.
Applied for your 485 Visa within 6 months of completing your eligible qualification/studies.

Temporary Graduate Visa Replacement Stream

Former and current 485 visa holders who’ve been affected by the Covid-19 travel restrictions in Australia might apply for a replacement Temporary Graduate Visa. Applications for the 485 Visa Replacement Stream will be open from July 1, 2022.

Eligibility Criteria for 485 Replacement Visa

If you want to apply for a replacement Temporary Graduate visa, you must:

Hold a valid Graduate Visa 485.
Have formerly held a Temporary Graduate visa that expired on or after February 1, 2020, and
Have been living outside Australia at any time between February 1, 2020 and December 15, 2021.
Pay the full Visa Application Charge for a 485 Visa which is AUD 1,680.
Submit the complete documents to support your claims in the visa application.

Applications will be open from the 1st of July 2022. You can apply from onshore or offshore with your ImmiAccount. You may stay in Australia for the same time period as your original 485 Visa. It depends on the eligibility and level of your qualification.

Conditions for the 485 Replacement Visa for Australia

This visa must come with the following conditions:

Condition 8501 – Make sure you have enough health insurance

During your whole time in Australia, you must have and keep up-to-date health insurance.

Condition 8515: Can’t get married or start living together before entry.

You can’t get married or move in with someone before you enter Australia.

If it is found out that you were engaged, married, or in a de facto relationship before you were given the visa and you didn’t inform the authorities, the department of home affairs could cancel your visa.

Add Your Family Members to Replacement Visa

You can also add your family members when you apply for a replacement 485 Visa. However, it includes those family members that weren’t included on your original Temporary Graduate visa.
