A piece of good news has been circulating about the allowance of working hours for international students jobs who work in the tourism and hospitality sectors in Australia. There were time restrictions imposed on the hospitality workers to work only in the limited hours. However, the time limitations have been lifted and students are now allowed to work freely.

 

According to the Government of Australia, there are approximately 300,000 students who have to work only for 40 hours while they study. This system has also affected the economy of Australia in many ways. Therefore, the government has announced to end the fortnightly time limit and allow the international students to work for more than just 40 hours.

According to the Immigration Minister of Australia, Alex Hawke, the decision to lift the time restriction will support the economy of Australia. As the Covid-19 pandemic has affected the economic industry of Australia so this initiative will make the economy better.

 

There are many vacancies in the hospitality and tourism sectors in Australia that have to be filled with the international students studying there. It will give new opportunities to the overseas students as well as bring improvement to the tourism and hospitality sectors of Australia.

 

Alex Hawke said that the government has reviewed the feedback from territories, industry, and the state on this matter. He claimed that this step has been taken to support and maintain the critical sectors of Australia which recently have been affected badly due to the Coronavirus Pandemic.

 

This decision about  International Students Jobs has been made in the support of the offshore students and people working in critical sectors of Australia. They had to lose their jobs as many of them couldn’t travel to Australia last year because of the travel ban and Covid-19 pandemic.

A huge number of people had lost their jobs in Australia due to the Covid-19 pandemic issues. A survey was conducted last year by Unions NSW in Australia. It showed that many people had to struggle a lot to make money and many of the students had to sleep hungry due to no source of income.

 

However, the Government of Australia is all set to take serious actions to eradicate this unemployment from the country. Immigration Minister Alex Hawke said that they will be hiring more than half of a million Australians and temporary visa holders in the hospitality and tourism sectors.

Hospitality and Tourism as Critic Sectors

Agriculture, food processing, health care, disability care, and childcare occupations come under the critical sectors of Australia. However, the hospitality and tourism sectors are also added to the list of critical sectors’ occupations list.

 

Subclass 408 COVID-19 Visa

The Government of Australia has introduced a Subclass 408 Covid-19 Visa for people who want to stay and work in Australia permanently. Moreover, the Temporary Visa holders who are currently working in the hospitality and tourism sectors of Australia or want to work there can also apply for this visa.

 

Though, Temporary Visa holders can apply for a Subclass 408 COVID-19 Visa 90 days before their current visa gets expired. This visa will allow the applicants to stay in Australia for more than 12 months. Furthermore, there are some other changings have been made in the visa settings as well.

 

On the other side, the Immigration Minister of Australia, Alex Hawke said that the veterinarian sector of occupation will be added to the Priority Skilled Occupation List. It has to be done for the skills that can be beneficial to make the economic future of Australia better and bright.

 

According to Alex Hawke, he stated that he will be making further improvements and changes in the temporary visa. He will be receiving and reviewing the feedback from the territories and state to make more decisions for the Priority Skilled Occupation List.

 

In March 2021, Alex Hawke claimed to help the tourism and hospitality sectors by providing them a package of $1.2 billion.

 

Extension of Working Hours for International Students jobs

The Covid-19 Pandemic has impacted the economic industry of Australia badly. The international students and workers with temporary visas had lost their jobs due to the ongoing situation. Therefore, Australia has decided to lift the time restriction for people and has allowed them to work for more than just 20 hours.

 

The purpose of this decision is to help offshore students, employees, and other Australians to earn money and build a career in Australia. The Australian Government has also launched a Subclass 408 COVID-19 Visa for people who want to live and work in Australia.
