What is the Global Talent Employer Sponsored Program?
This program is specially launched to attract highly talented professionals from all around the globe to come to Australia and be a part of its workforce. And also, to train the local talent so that the professionals in that particular field can be multiplied.
Through this program, an eligible employer in Australia can sponsor an employee from outside Australia for a position that can be filled by a highly-talented person only. However, there are two important conditions on sponsoring an employee from overseas.
These are given as below:
- The employer should be unable to find a suitable candidate in Australia for the position he or she is offering.
- The position cannot be filled by sponsoring an employee from overseas through any other visa subclass
Through this program, the employers can sponsor employees through TSS visa. But the terms of TSS are negotiable for GTESP. The threshold income of the candidate is also higher than the normal TSS visa. The visa under GTESP is granted for four years with a pathway to permanent residency
What are the streams of this visa?
There are two streams of this visa. Both of these are discussed below along with their eligibility conditions
Established Business Stream
This stream is for the accredited sponsor in Australia. It allows him or her to sponsor employees from oversea who have extraordinary talent so that they can help in the betterment and improvement of an established business in Australia.
Here are some important points about this visa:
- This visa gives access of up to 20 positions to the employer
- The eligibility conditions of TSS visa are negotiable
- A pathway to Australian PR is provided after 3 years on this visa
- The age limit is also flexible
- The sponsored employee will have 60 days to find another suitable sponsor or to return to his or her homeland if the position is ceased
Eligibility Criteria of this Stream:
The applicant must satisfy the following conditions:
- The applicant should not be a family member of the employer who is sponsoring him or her for the position
- Should satisfy all health and character requirements
- Must have three-year work experience at a minimum in the relevant field
- Applicant’s qualifications must demonstrate him or her being highly-talented
- Threshold income condition should be satisfied
- Must have an ability to train and pass on skills to others in Australia
Start-up stream
This visa stream allows an eligible sponsor to sponsor employee with extraordinary skills from overseas to come to Australia and help in launching or developing a new startup with innovation and bright ideas.
Important points about this stream:
- This visa gives access of up to 5 positions per year to the employer
- The eligibility conditions of TSS visa are negotiable
- A pathway to Australian PR is provided after 3 years on this visa
- The age limit is also flexible
- The sponsored employee will have 60 days to find another suitable sponsor or to return to his or her homeland if the position is ceased
Eligibility criteria of this stream:
