Temporary graduate visa subclass 485

This visa subclass allows a recent graduate from an Australian institution to stay, work and study in Australia after completing a course from an Australian institution. This is a temporary visa that allows its holder to live in Australia for a temporary period. This visa subclass has two streams. The time of stay in Australia under this visa depends upon the visa stream. Let’s have a look at its different streams:

Graduate work stream

This stream of visa subclass 485 is for the graduates from international students who have completed at least 92 CRICOS weeks of vocational studies from an Australian institution. This visa stream allows them to stay, work and study in Australia for a temporary period. The applicant should belong to the occupation listed in the medium or long-term occupational list.

The eligibility criteria of this visa stream

  • The applicant should not be more than 50 years in age
  • Must have completed at least 92 CRICOS weeks for vocational training from an Australian institution
  • The applicant should belong to the occupation listed in the medium or long-term occupational list
  • The applicant must have a valid Australian visa
  • Should have taken English proficiency test
  • Must fulfil all health and character conditions

Postgraduate work stream

This stream of visa subclass 485 is for the graduates from international students who have completed at least 92 CRICOS weeks of higher studies from an Australian institution. This visa stream allows them to stay, work and study in Australia for a temporary period.

  • The applicants who have bachelors and master’s degree can stay up to 2-3 years
  • The applicants who have a Masters by research and PhD degree can stay up to 3-4 years

The eligibility criteria of this visa stream

  • The applicant should not be more than 50 years in age
  • Must have completed at least 92 CRICOS weeks for higher studies from an Australian institution
  • The applicant must have a valid Australian visa
  • Should have taken English proficiency test
  • Must fulfil all health and character conditions

Skilled recognized graduate visa

This visa subclass is especially for the applicants who have recently graduated from a specific engineering institution in Australia. This visa subclass allows its holder to live, work and study in Australia for up to 18 months.
