Family visa Australia is a visa category that has various visas that allow a family unit or member of an Australian citizen, permanent resident or an eligible New Zealand citizen to come to Australia and live with their family members in Australia. Different visa subclasses that come under this category are as under
Through this visa, the partner of an Australian nation or permanent resident can come to Australia to live with their partner in Australia. There are two streams of this visa:
Onshore partner visa subclass 801/820
This visa allows the married or de facto partner of an Australian nation, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen to live Australia temporarily on subclass 820 that lead towards permanent partner visa subclass 820. As it’s an onshore visa subclass so the applicant must be in Australia at the time of application.
Offshore partner visa subclass 309/100
This visa is for the married or de facto partner of an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen to come and live Australia temporarily on subclass 309 that lead towards permanent partner visa subclass 100. Both of these subclasses that are subclass 309 and subclass 100 visas can be applied for at the same time.
Prospective marriage visa
This visa allows the prospective marriage partner of an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or an eligible New Zealand citizen to come to Australia for 9 months. During this time he or she is expected to marry their fiancé for this visa, the applicant should get sponsored by an Australian nation, Australian permanent resident or an eligible New Zealand citizen and must be more than 18 years in age. Parent visa subclass 103
This visa is only for the parents of an Australian nation, Australian permanent resident or an eligible New Zealand citizen to come and live in Australia permanently. The processing time of this visa is quite long sometimes it takes as long as 30 years to get processed. For this visa, the applicant must satisfy the balance family test that is at least half of the applicant’s children should be an Australian nation, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand, citizen
Contributory parent visa subclass 143/173
This parent visa subclass has a much faster processing time then parent visa subclass 103. it allows the parents of an Australian nation, Australian permanent resident or an eligible New Zealand citizen to come to Australia on temporary parent visa subclass 173 until their permanent visa subclass 143 is being processed. The visa processing fee of contributory parent visa is high in comparison to parent visa subclass 103. This visa also requires the satisfaction of balance family test.
Child visa subclass 101
This visa subclass allows the dependent child to live with his or her parent in Australia permanently. For this visa, one must be sponsored by a parent or step-parent and the age of the child should be below 18 years or should be financially dependent on his or her parents for studies.
