SkillSelect Invitation Round – Latest Data for December 2022-23 Program Year!

 

The SkillSelect invitation round for the Skilled Independent Visa 189 and the Skilled Work Regional Visa 491 has begun. As part of the program year 2022-23, family-sponsored visas will be offered repeatedly. There may be a difference in the number of invitations in each round. As it depends on how many applications the Department is processing.

 

The Australian government conducted its largest SkillSelect Invitation Round on December 8, 2022, where 35,120 candidates were invited to submit an application for the Skilled Independent Visa Subclass 189 and the Skilled Independent Visa Subclass 491. A total of 35,000 ITAs (Invitations to Apply) have been issued to candidates for the Subclass 189 visa alone.

There will be no impact on the nominations of state/territory governments for skilled visas when the departmental invitation rounds are conducted.

 

 

Occupation Ceilings for SkillSelect Invitation Round 2022

Invitations issued under 189 Visas and 491 Visas may be subject to the occupation ceilings. Consequently, there is a limit on the number of Expressions of Interest to be invited for skilled migration from the occupation group.

 

In this way, the skilled migration program will remain stable and unbiased. Moreover, it will continue to invite prospective migrants from different skilled occupations. Each occupation’s ceiling value is based on a percentage of stock employment figures.

 

The Australian Bureau of Statistics collects and releases employment statistics. This statistic shows how many people are employed in each occupation in Australia. However, it must be noted that the occupation ceilings are not applicable to State or Territory Nominated or Business Innovation and Investment Visas.

Candidates with the highest points scores are invited to apply for the relevant visa. In the event that you have equal points scores, your order of invitation is determined by the time at which you received your points score for that subclass. Prior to later dates, Home Affairs will invite Expressions of Interest with earlier dates of effect.

In accordance with the points score, the highest-ranked individuals are invited to apply for the relevant visa per category. For those who have equal points scores for the same subclass, the time at which they reached their points score for that subclass (referred to as the date of effect) determines their order of invitation to that subclass.

 

The deadline for submitting Expressions of Interest is a few days prior to the actual effective date.
